Hi Neale,

Thanks for your inquiry. We are checking the shared issue issue with the installer of Aspose.Total for Reporting Services and will update you asap.

I would like to address your query from Aspose.Words perspective. Please install Aspose.Words for Reporting Services manually by following steps as described at following documentation link.

http://www.aspose.com/docs/display/wordsreportingservices/Installing+on+the+Server+Manually

Please let me know if you need more information, I will be glad to assist you.

Hi Neale,

Thank you for using Aspose products.

As discussed earlier, we are currently looking into the original issue, and we will keep you posted with updates in this regard. In the meanwhile, you can manually configure Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services. Please check the below linked technical article for your kind reference.
http://www.aspose.com/docs/display/cellsreportingservices/Using+DLL+Only

In case you face any difficulty, please feel free to write back.

Hi Neale,

Thanks for contacting support.

As shared earlier, we are working on testing the scenario with Aspose.Total for Reporting Services installer and will share our findings shortly. However, you may consider manually configuring Aspose.Pdf for Reporting Services with instructions specified over Install Manually.

We are sorry for this inconvenience.

Have resolved the installation issue associated with the following products within the Total.RS product:

  • Aspose.BarCode.ReportingServices.msi
  • Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.msi
  • Aspose.Pdf.ReportingServices.msi

By performing the recommendations in the following Microsoft Support article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888471

Adding a ALLUSERS=2 parameter allows the MSI to install normally.

Unfortunately, the Aspose.Words.ReportingServices.msi if failing, but with a new error code: 2869.

Manual installation fails.

Finally, the central setup.exe invokes the msi's for the installation process. The Aspose.Slides for Reporting services does not appear to have an msi...any thoughts?

Thank-you,

Neale.

Have resolved the installation problem on 2003 servers using the following commands in a batch file:

MSIEXEC /i Aspose.BarCode.ReportingServices.msi ALLUSERS=2
MSIEXEC /i Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.msi ALLUSERS=2
MSIEXEC /i Aspose.Pdf.ReportingServices.msi ALLUSERS=2
MSIEXEC /a Aspose.Words.ReportingServices.msi ALLUSERS=2

Now, what is the story on the slides program, since there is no installation routine?

Hi Neale,

Please accept my apologies for issue related to Aspose.Slides package missing in Aspose.Total package. We are fixing the issue on highest priority and it will be resolved shortly.

In the mean while, I suggest you to please download the Aspose.Slides for Reporting Services 4.10 installers from Aspose.Slides download section separately. Please visit the Aspose.Slides download section to get the latest build.

Please share if there is any further issue incurring on your end in this regard.

Many Thanks,

Thank-you for the apology. We downloaded the aspose.slides msi, performed the install and the product does not recognize the Aspose.Total.Product.Family.lic file. It is looking for a file named Aspose.Slides.lic. Please advise.

Hi Neale,

I have observed the issue shared by you. Can you please share the license file with us by following the guidelines shared here. Please also notify us here once you have shared the license. We will try to verify and resolve the issue ASAP for you.

Many Thanks,

License file sent according to attached guidelines.

Hi Neale,

Thanks for sharing the license file with us. I have used the license file shared and have been able to observe the issue specified. An issue with ID SLIDESREP-33381 has been created in our issue tracking system to further investigate and resolve the issue. This thread has been linked with the issue so that you may be automatically notified once the issue will be resolved.

We are sorry for your inconvenience,

Hello Tahir,

The customer contacted me via email about this issue. In order to resolve it quickly I supplied them with a stand along license for Aspose.Slides for SSRS, which seemed to resolve that issue. Now they are having trouble installing Aspose.Words for SSRS. They receive an error message stating “Unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed” while the installer is running. They have verified that Aspose.Words for SSRS is not installed on that system. They have also attempted to install Aspose.Words for SSRS on 2 other servers, each having the same problem. Please look into this issue ASAP.

Hi Neale,

Regarding issue (Unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed”) with Aspose.Words for Reporting Services, I have tested the scenario and have managed to reproduce this issue. After installing Aspose.Slides for Reporting Services, the installter of Aspose.Words for Reporting Services fails.

For the sake of correction, I have logged this problem in our issue tracking system as WORDSRPT-163. I have linked this forum thread to the same issue and you will be notified via this forum thread once this issue is resolved.

We apologize for your inconvenience.

Hi Neale,

Could you please try attached Aspose.Words for Reporting Services hot fix installer and let us know how it works?

Thanks and regards,
Vadim

Have attempted to use the new msi and received the same 'newer version of program already installed' message. Then uninstalled all the Aspose products on the server and attempted to install the words product first and got the msi 2869 error message.

I've attached another zip file with the screenshot of the error message and of the VERBOSE MSI log from the failed install of the Words component.

Hi Neale,

Thanks for additional info and log files - I am investigating them now.

From the first glance error 2869 may occurs when running setup without admin rights.
So could you please run setup in forced admin mode -
MSIEXEC /a Aspose.Words.ReportingServices.msi ALLUSERS=2

I will also build one more version of installer with extended internal logging capabilities and will send it through this forum thread soon.

Vadim

Hi Neale,

Here is one more installer - with enabled internal logging.
Please try to launch and then send me C:\Temp\AWRS_Setup.log file.

Thanks,
Vadim

The install with the new zip file failed again and did not create the log file. So, I started from scratch:

  • Uninstalled all products
  • Cleared registry
  • Deleted aspose directory in program files
  • Reinstalled one product at a time, validated:
    • aspose words - successful
    • aspose barcodes - successful
    • aspose cells - successful
    • aspose pdf - successful
    • aspose slides - now it gets interesting...

Following installation of slides, the entry in the add/remove programs for words, was removed. Additionally, the words features remained intact on the website, but the word documents are now labeled as Evaluation Only.

I'm attaching the last log generated, but the last installation was done with the msi you sent first thing this morning. I will say, from a retrospective, when doing the initial install, all went well until slides, which failed. We received a new MSI and a new license file. From that time forward, words has been the problem. One other observeration. The MSI error 2869 stopped when I deleted the words directory from the program files\aspose folder and rebooted the machine.

I have also confirmed, following the running of the SLIDES msi, the words folder is now gone from the program files\aspose, as is the add\remove programs entry.

Hi Neale,

Thanks for additional info. I have passed through AWRS_Setup.log file and found one error -
"The process cannot access the file “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin\Aspose.Words.ReportingServices.dll” because it is being used by another process."

So I think that before installation it is necessary to stop SSRS and then start it again.

Also looking at msiexec log file I can see that you use v4.05, and this is rather old version. It would be nice to upgrade msiexec to v4.5 from here -
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8483

I have tried to reproduce all your installation steps on my environment (Win2008 SP2, SQL2008 R2, MsiExec 4.5) and all works fine. So I will create virtual PC with the same environment as at your side (Win2003 SP2, SQL2008 R2, MsiExec 4.0) and will try to reproduce those steps again.

Regards,
Vadim

Hi Neale,

I was able to reproduce the issue with Aspose.Words/Slides conflict on Win2003. So here is one more hotfix. Please replace old MSIs\Aspose.Words.ReportingServices.msi with attached one, uninstall all Aspose.* products and run setupRS.exe as usually.

Thanks and regards,
Vadim
