Hi. We upgraded from Aspose 4.5.0.17 to 4.6.0.11. I found that this .dll upgraded caused an aspose process, when running on larger files, to produce files that cannot be opened by Excel. I have attached a sample file that cannot be opened. What happens is that Excel starts to open up the file, then complains that it does not have the resources to open up the file, then asks to recover the file, and the process repeats in a loop. With the 4.5.0.17 .dll the file opens fine in Excel. It is slightly smaller (about 10mb instead of 12mb) but I don’t think that the file size is the issue as this is a relatively small file. Is this a known issue where if we upgrade it will be fixed? If not, can you look into this? We upgraded to solve some other issue and now we can’t use some of the files created. Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Thank you for considering Aspose.
Please try the attached latest version of Aspose.Cells. If you still face any problem please share your template file (from which you are generating export.xlsx) and we will look into it.
Thank You & Best Regards,
Hi. Thank you for your response. The new dll you provided did not fix the problem at all. We are not using any template to generate the file, it is being generated from scratch with Aspose. I am attaching the new file generated with the .dll you provided. Excel still cannot open this file, with exactly the same symptoms, and it is maybe 1kb less in size than the previous one (although I’m still not sure that size is the issue, I’m just noting this). Thank you.
Hi,
Thank you for considering Aspose.
Both of you attached files are of size 0kb, so we are unable to check them. Please create a sample console application to reproduce the issue and post it here, we will check it soon.
Thank You & Best Regards,
Hi. I cannot easily create a sample application. We are exporting a lot of data with formatting, etc., and it could take days to figure out how to replicate it. You would be able to tell me a lot better since you guys have access to the file format and an understanding of Excel. I will try to get the file attached, it could be our extremely limited internet access blocking the file upload. Do you have an email address I can send the files to? Thanks.
Hi,
Thank you for considering Aspose.
To email your generated file, please follow these under mentioned steps,
1: click the Contact button in the Post.
2: In the drop down list options click "Send nausherwan.aslam an Email”.
3: Attach the template file and send it.
4: Once you have done it, kindly confirm us on this thread.
Thank You & Best Regards,
That won’t work because the crippled terminal machine that I have internet access on can’t send emails (I already had to go through multiple levels of IT support to attempt to transfer the file to the crippled machine, just to find that it wouldn’t attach), and if it could, it wouldn’t be able to attach a file to the email since it already can’t upload it to your webpage. This setup is due to whatever security policy we have implemented at our company that gives us extremely limited internet access. Can you please give me an email address to email the file to? Thanks for your help.
Hi. Please let me know if you can open up these files. One of the files is the broken file with the dll we had before (the 4.6 one) and the other is the broken one generated with the new .dll you sent us. Thanks in advance for your help.
