I was using this componet with a beta file and it is taking 17 or 18 seconds to convert the files. I am needing something that will work in 2 to 3 seconds. How can we make this work faster?

The time being spent while conversion of files in to pdf, depends upon the contents and size of the input source. Before we suggest some thing, we need to look at the input source being used. Can you please share the resource files/project so that we can test the issue at our end. We would be pleased to assist you in this regard.
