Thanks for your patience. I have discussed the dependency of “WingDings 2” font while rendering check boxes in PDF with our development team and have have logged this issue as WORDSNET-7437 in our issue tracking system. I have linked this forum thread to the same issue and you will be notified via this forum thread once this issue is resolved.
The “TrueType Font Pack 2” no longer seems to be offered, and we communicated with MonoType Imaging who owns the license for the WingDings 2 font, and we ended up having to pay thousands of dollars a year in licensing given our server configuration.
So, we considered dropping the use of the CheckboxFormField that Aspose.Words uses WingDings 2 on, but that would have required us to go back through all our MS Word templates, so we just sucked it up, and licensed the font.
We would very much appreciate it if Aspose could remove the dependency on that font, and do some direct drawing in the resulting PDF, or find some other path to render checked and unchecked checkboxes other than a font that requires licensing. My understanding is that that request is tracked under WORDSNET-7437, and I’ll keep an eye out for updates to this forum thread regarding that.
Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, the dependency of “WingDings 2” font while rendering check boxes in PDF has issue ID WORDSNET-7437. We will update you via this forum thread once this issue is resolved.
I like to share with you that this issue has been resolved and the fix is available in latest version of Aspose.Words for .NET 13.1.0. Please download the latest of Aspose.Words for .NET from here: https://downloads.aspose.com/words/net
Hope this helps you. Please let us know if you have any more queries.
We have deployed an application that uses Aspose Words for .NET version 14.2.0.0, Product version 2014.02.28 to convert Word documents to PDF. In the converted documents checkboxes are being converted to snowflakes or circles, exactly as described in earlier posts on this thread.
I wonder if this issue has regressed since the 13.1.0 release, or some new factor has come into play.
Thanks for your inquiry. The older versions of Aspose.Words depends on “WingDings 2” fonts. I suggest you please use latest version of Aspose.Words for .NET 15.4.0. If the problem still remains, please attach your input Word document here for testing. I will investigate the issue on my side and provide you more information.
