Cisco VSD to PDF Diagram Renderings

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/docs/iam/unified/ipt611/IPT_UC611_SiteModels.zip

The rendering of some of these VSDs to PDF is really off with many misplaced Cisco stencils. Can you please investigate and fix?

Attached is a sample rendering in Visio 2016 and a PDF output from Aspose.Diagram for the file SiteModel_EUEM_UnifiedCMInterop_LGW.vsd.

This issue is related to this post: https://forum.aspose.com/t/6993

Edit: Also attached (CME-IPIP-Gateways.zip) is another rendering comparison example from this archive: http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/docs/iam/unified/ipt611/IPT_UC611_Components.zip

Hi Per,

Thank you for contacting support. We managed to replicate the said issues as below:

File Name: SiteModel_EUEM_UnifiedCMInterop_LGW.vsd
DIAGRAMNET-51182: Missing shapes on converting a VSD to PDF
DIAGRAMNET-51183: Displaced shapes on converting a VSD to PDF
DIAGRAMNET-51184: Incomplete boundary of the meta type shapes on converting a VSD to PDF

File Name: CME-IPIP-Gateways.vsd
DIAGRAMNET-51185: Displaced shapes on converting a VSD to PDF
DIAGRAMNET-51186: Incorrect layout of the meta type shapes on converting a VSD to PDF

Your post has also been linked to these tickets. We shall keep you informed regarding any available updates.

Would you also be willing to look through the other diagrams in the .zip archives (not just the two that I provided screenshots for) and verify that whatever tickets you have created will address the rendering issues with those as well? Thanks much.

Hi Per,

Thank you for contacting support. We recommend our clients to shortlist and report their critical issues proactively. You may also prioritize already logged tickets and avoid to report similar problems because otherwise there would be many tickets with the same problem. In the above five tickets, you could find two similar issues, but only the drawing samples are different. Please highlight other different issues, we would address all those in this forum thread.

My #1 priority, something I need asap, is for the diagrams which use Cisco custom shapes to render accurately to PDFs. Missing shapes and displaced shapes are probably the highest priority, but I have no idea what "meta type shapes" means, so I don't know what that priority is for me. I had thought the missing and misplaced shapes was fixed with DIAGRAMNET-51156, but this doesn't appear to be the case as I've looked at more Cisco .vsd files.

My #2 priority is to be able to view stencils from .vss and .vssx files. In an ideal world, I could place these stencils on a diagram and then render them to PDF. This is not currently possible based on the other thread I opened: https://forum.aspose.com/t/6991 .

Hi Per,

Thank you for the details. It is handy to give you the service in a better way. We have recorded your sample VSDs against the logged ticket IDs (as below) in our issue tracking system, after the fix, if we found any other different scenario of missing and displaced shapes internally, we shall log a separate ticket for it.

Samples Zip archive:

Tickets: DIAGRAMNET-51182 and DIAGRAMNET-51183

We have already raises the priority of ticket ID DIAGRAMNET-51171 in our issue tracking system. Our product team has plans to resolve it in the next month. We shall let you know once it is resolved.

Thank you for prioritizing this issue. Please also prioritize the displacement of "meta type shapes," because the CME-IPIP-Gateways diagram is not readable when they are displaced, as shown in your Visio/Aspose side-by-side screenshot. If I were to pick a lower priority, I would say that the misrendering of the cloud bubble shapes is secondary.

My goal is an accurate rendering of any Visio diagram to PDF. But, I realize you have to prioritize updates.

Hi, I found your thread during the search, I had the same problem and I can’t figure it out, thanks for your comments. Well, I’m just at the beginning of my career path. I have been working as an office manager for the same company for 5 years and I realized that I would like to develop in the direction of network administration. We have a lot of computers in the company that are connected to each other and I would like to monitor this. Moreover, the position of network administrator will be vacant in a year. And I would like to know if I can take the courses and get a Cisco certification to qualify for this position? Will a year of training be enough for me to become a good specialist in this field? By the way, I’ve already found an online platform https://cciedump.spoto.net/ where students can get help preparing for exams to get the Cisco certification. And so, I will be grateful for your feedback.

@FaithTerry
