Compatibility or Layout Options not retaines with Aspose.Words.dll

It was reported in an earlier post I made on this subject, WORDSNET-12017, that this was resolved but I’m still seeing any document output after removing metadata (our product is Scrub) losing the original Compatibility or Layout options.

My original document has “Lay out this document as if created in Microsoft Word 2010”

but the output document has “Lay out this document as if created in Microsoft Word 2013-2016”

This causes changes in formatting. Is there a way to retain the Compatability and Layout options in Word?

Samples attached.

Code Snippet:

  public void ClearAuthorAndTitleFromPdf(string path)
        var pdf = new Aspose.Pdf.Document();
        var pdfInfo = new Aspose.Pdf.DocumentInfo(pdf);
        pdfInfo.Author = string.Empty;
        pdfInfo.Title = string.Empty;

Thanks for your inquiry. To ensure a timely and accurate response, please attach the following resources here for testing:

  • Please attach the output PDF file that shows the undesired behavior.
  • Please create a standalone console application (source code without compilation errors) that helps us to reproduce your problem on our end and attach it here for testing.
  • You shared sample code of Aspose.Pdf. Please share if you are facing the issue using Aspose.Pdf.

As soon as you get these pieces of information ready, we’ll start investigation into your issue and provide you more information. Thanks for your cooperation.

PS: To attach these resources, please zip and upload them.

I have requested these items from our development team.

Please note this is an issue with Aspose.Words not Aspose.Pdf (I will check the PDF issue separately).

But can you confirm whether or not there are specific commands we need to be using to retain Compatibility or Layout options when we process a Word document?

Thanks for your inquiry. Please share the requested detail for the investigation of your issue. Please also share CompatibilityOptions that you are using at your end. We will investigate the issue on our side and provide you more information.

The Compatibility or Layout Options are in the Original.docx I upload.

Thanks for sharing the detail. Please share the expected and problematic output PDF documents along with code example that help us to reproduce this issue on our end. Thanks for your cooperation.

I was unable to attach the ZIP with the console app we created to reproduce this issue due to your upload size limit, so our sample project can be downloaded from this link.

The issue happens when we convert a Word document to PDF, and the metadata removal in Word does not affect the result. That is, if we “scrub” and output to Word the text does not shift. Please note that in the original Sample.doc in the bind\Debug folder different color text has been applied to each page. After it is output to PDF you can see text has shifted between the pages if you follow the colors.

Run the Sample.exe in the bin\Debug folder and it will create a PDF with the issue.

The sample code is included in the ZIP.

Thanks for sharing the detail. We have tested the scenario and have managed to reproduce the same issue at our side. For the sake of correction, we have logged this problem in our issue tracking system as WORDSNET-16259. You will be notified via this forum thread once this issue is resolved.

We apologize for your inconvenience.
