Hello.
I wanted to test the Freeze and Unfreeze features available in the right-click context menu.
But i can’t make it work.
Is there a special way to use it ? Or it simply doesn’t work like that ?
I precise that the features “Format Cell” works well so I don’t understand why the freeze features doesn’t.
Thanks !
Hi,
I have tested the Freeze panes and Unfreeze panes feature available in the context menu of GridWeb, it works fine. I am not sure what’s wrong with yours there. I have tested the feature on Google chrome, IE (9). I simply load the web page having GridWeb in it, now select a cell and right click on it, now click “Freeze” and it will do it, it will set horizontal and vertical lines at the cell location, so when you move down or right (via scrollbars), the frozen data can be still seen.
Thank you.
Well with IE7 it seems that it doesn’t work. I did exactly the same as you and it has freeze nothing.
I have deleted the Freeze entry in the menu and added a new one by custom button and it works fine.
I have another question : how many rows and columns the GridWeb handles fine without huge delay ?
Thanks for your answer.
Hi,
"Well with IE7 it seems that it doesn’t work. I did exactly the same as you and it has freeze nothing.

Although your issue is solved as you mentioned by adopting the workaround, but we need to investigate your issue as it looks strange to us and it should work fine without using your workaround. Could you create a sample runnable project, zip it and post it here, we will check it soon. Also, attach some screen shots i.e…, before and after performing Freeze panes operation. It will help us to trace the issue more accurately.
"I have another question : how many rows and columns the GridWeb handles fine without huge delay ?"
There is not limit put forth by GridWeb, it can handle as many rows and columns. But, the more you specify the rows and especially the columns, the more it takes a little time (although not much delay as you pointed out) to process/load them into the GridWeb matrix.
Thank you.
Well i have retested it works fine. I believed that it didn’t work because i have tested the freeze feature b y clicking on the cell A1… I’m stupid sorry.
By the way my additionnal features are still usefull because the freeze default feature freeze both row and column. So to have a column freeze only or a row freeze only i have to use my CommandButton. And I have a question about CustomCommandButton in the context menu : can I put my custom entry menu at a specific position ? For the moment my new commands are at the end of the context menu and I wish for example tu put my custom command “Freeze Row” just after the “Freeze” entry. Is it possible ?
After for the quantity of data, i still have a huge delay to display the page containing the grid on IE7 when i try to import an Excel file which contains 2 sheets: on with like 100 columns and 50 rows with some formulas, coloring cells, etc and another with around 250 columns and 1000 rows.
Whereas on Chrome or Firefox the page displays in few seconds…
I have attached the file in this post so you can test by yourself to see if the grid displays fine by importing data from this file using IE7.
Thanks !
Hi,
Thanks for the file.
For the delay issue as well, we have logged your comments into our issue “CELLSNET-41404” for IE7. We will do the investigation why it does not work for IE7, although it works fine without much delay on IE9 and other browsers e.g Chrome, FireFox as I have tested it with your file. We will evaluate it soon.
For your query to put your custom buttons’ relevant menu option on top, well there is no direct way to amend the right click menu options although you may try to disable/eliminate them by commenting out the lines in the java script files (e.g “lang_en.js” etc.) under the acw_client folder.
Thank you.
Hi,
Could you please download this update and try installing it. The latest official release of the product/package Aspose.Cells for .NET v7.4.1 includes the latest version v2.7.16.2000 (GridWeb) that you may get and use it now.
Also, Please do the following:
1)
In the "acwmain.js", please change the line i.e..,:
var needInitAligmentAdjust=true to:
var needInitAligmentAdjust=false
2)
Please set "EnableAsync="True"" for GridWeb.
Let us know if it works on your IE7.
Thank you.
The issues you have found earlier (filed as CELLSNET-41404) have been fixed in this update.
