Deleting the built-in style from the word document

This is with regards to deleting the built-in style from the word document.

In some cases, we are interested to delete few of the character styles. For ex: “Heading 1 char” present in the word document.

We are getting an exception - built-in style can’t be removed.

But we really need to remove it as while applying the style from another word document, “Heading 1” the linked style is overriding the paragraph style but not the corresponding character style “Heading 1 Char”. This is the case with all linked styles and not only the ‘Heading 1’.

So, after applying the style the destination word document would have one linked style “Heading 1” (Heading 1 and Heading 1 Char) and a separate non-overridden Heading 1 Char (which is earlier but still present). The paragraph style ‘Heading 1’ associated/linked with it got overridden but not the character style. So, we are interested in deleting Heading 1 Char any how.

Thanks for looking into this.

Hi Praneeth,

Thanks for your inquiry. Could you please attach sample Word document you want to remove this style from here for our reference? We will investigate the issue on our end and provide you more information.

Best regards,

Hi Awais,

Please find the attached word document. We need to remove the following definitions of character styles from this document:

  1. Heading 1 Char
  2. Subtitle Char
  3. Title Char
  4. Quote Char
  5. Intense Quote Char

The reason for removing these is, we have a separate linked (paragraph and character) styles definitions in the document i.e; Heading 1, Subtitle, Title, Quote, Intense Quote and the above mentioned character styles list is just extraneous and resulting inconsistencies.

Please have a look. Thanks for the help.
