Excel 2003 vs Excel 2007 format - memory footprint and speed

Hi,

Currently we have some of our template workbooks on the disk. We use these templates as the base to generate/export some complex excel workbooks. If I create my templates in Excel 2007 will I have a smaller memory footprint or a faster calculation of formulas (in memory) or faster reading of workbook template off the disk as compared to Excel 2003 file format?

Please let us know if the new file format will help us in any way.

Thanks,
Shashi

Hi Shashi,

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Processing a template file in 2007xlsx format is almost has the same performance as Excel 2003 file format.

It is recommended to use Excel 2003 file format if there is no special need of 2007xlsx features.

Thank you,
