Fact labels overlapping in the merged cell

Dear Shakeel Faiz / Babar Raza,

As per your suggestion I’ve validated the issue in UNIX environment and issue can be reproduced.

Even I checked for the respective fonts availability in directory and the “calibri.ttf” and “calibrib.ttf” fonts are also available and properly mapped.

Please find attached the sample code and excel files used, generated pptx files in both windows and UNIX environments and also the screenshots showing the exact issue.

Regards,
Sanjeev

Hi Sanjeev,

Thank you for sharing more information.

As per discussion with the concerned member of the product team, we still think that the problem is not caused due to some bug in the API, rather it is due to the unavailability of the required fonts in UNIX environment. In order to further investigate the matter, we need the following details/artifacts from your side.

  • We have checked your code, however, it does not tell how you are setting the fonts location. Please provide the details about the mechanism you have opted to set the font directory.
  • Please render the provided spreadsheet to PDF using Aspose.Cells APIs alone. You need to set the font directory as you are already doing in your application and save the Workbook in PDF format while specifying the SaveFormat.PDF in Workbook.save method. Please use only the latest version of Aspose.Cells for Java 8.8.2.7 (attached) for all testing as we will be doing the same on our end.
  • Please provide more details about your UNIX environment, such as operating system version & architecture, JDK vendor, version & architecture.
  • Please create an archive of Calibri font files from your UNIX environment and share it with us.

Thank you for your cooperation & understanding.

Hi Sanjeev,

Please try the scenario against the latest version of Aspose.Cells for Java 8.8.2.8 as we have found a problem related to the overlapping text in EMF and have fixed it with this release. It would be appropriate that you display the version number in your application to make sure correct version is being used. In case you face any difficulty or the problem persists, please respond back with the details as requested in previous response.

Dear Babar Raza,

Please find the below details as per your request:

  • Mechanism to set fonts directory : We placed the required Calibri fonts in a specific directory and loading the fonts with Cells.Helper class and it is working fine in PDF. The problem is for PPTX with OLE feature.
  • Please find attached the PDF/PPTX samples generated in both UNIX and Windows environments using Aspose.Cells java v8.8.2.7 and Aspose.Slides java v16.5.0 jars
  • UNIX Environment Details :
OS Version : AIX 6.1 - TL9
OS level -s 6100-09-03-1415
JDK Details:
Vendor : Oracle Corporation
Version : java version “1.7.0_45”
Java™ SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_45-b18)
  • Please find attached the archive file of Calibri fonts being used
Regards,
Sanjeev

Hi Sanjeev,

Thank you for sharing the details.

Please note, we found a problem related to the EMF rendering in Aspose.Cells for Java 8.8.2.7 which has been fixed with Aspose.Cells for Java 8.8.2.8 (link provided in previous response). Could you please re-execute the tests against v8.8.2.8 and share your feedback?

Hi Sanjeev,

We haven’t received your feedback on the issue CELLSJAVA-41852 (Text overlapping when worksheets is converted to EMF on Linux) which was fixed with Aspose.Cells for Java 8.8.2.8. Could you please confirm so we could close the aforementioned ticket?

The issues you have found earlier (filed as CELLSJAVA-41852) have been fixed in this update.
