I just download Aspose.PDF.Kit, version 3.2 and 3.3, and I tried to install it in my laptop, which is Windows XP SP2 Eng, and with .NET framework 3.5 + VS.NET 2008.
I failed to install both versions with error message "The folder path '[some mess characters here]' contains an invalid character" when installation just started.
Can you please provide a little bit more details so we could investigate the issue? The information like full installation path, where you're trying to install the components, or any other related information that can help us figure out the issue.
Both I and my colleague faced the same error, we are using Acer 4720 laptop, installed with Windows XP SP2 (English OS).
I have yet no chance to select installation path, it failed just after I double click on Aspose.Pdf.Kit.msi.
When I start installation, following applications are running: 1) VPN connection to intranet 2) MSN 3) Outlook 4) IE
I tried to close all applications, also tried to download 4 different versions (from 3.0.0 to 3.3.0) from Aspose website, but still face the same issue.
I even copied the installation package into a Windows 2003 server (SP2 international version) but still got exactly same error message.
Could you maybe provide me another download link for me to try?
I have tried installing the component on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 both. At my end, it is istalling fine. Both systems had MS SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 installed. Can you please share the folder path from where you are trying to install the component? That is, the folder in which the installer is Maybe the source folder path have to do something with it, though I'm not sure right now.
We'll really appreciate your patience and cooperation.
I have said I have NOT even go to step to set folder path yet. It gives errro immediately after I click the MSI file.
And I also mentioned I suspect the problem comes with “SQL Server Management Studio Express” (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C243A5AE-4BD1-4E3D-94B8-5A0F62BF7796&displaylang=en) but not MS SQL Server 2005.
After further investigation we have found that the issue is not concerned with the MS SQL Server or Aspose.Pdf.Kit, rather it is related to some invalid character in the user profile, shell folders, or registry keys.
Please try to log in as a different user and try to install the component.
