Fonts not showing in PDF - works in Word

I have a word tempate file that has a barcode on it.
When I use the docuemnt builder to save it to the response stream in PDF, the barcode font is not present.
When I change the output to DOC or DOCX the barcode is present in the downloaded file.
The font is installed on the server correctly - I can create words doc with the font on the server correctly.
Any Ideas what I could be missing
