Formats supported for PDF/A conversion and other questions

Hi Tushar,

Thanks for posting the files, but I could not reproduce the issue at my end. I tested using
  • Aspose.Network for .NET 5.5
  • Aspose.Words for .NET 9.1
  • VS 2008, .NET 3.5
I believe the issue would be resolved, if you update the Aspose.Network dlls. I am also attaching the sample console application that I used for the conversion. MSG and generated PDF files are also included.

Regarding txt to PDF/A, our representatives from the Aspose.Words team will reply you soon.

Hi

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thanks for your inquiry. Please follow the link to learn how to load plain text documents into Aspose.Words DOM:

http://www.aspose.com/documentation/.net-components/aspose.words-for-.net/howto-load-plain-text-txt-files.html

After loading the document you can save it as PDF.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Saqib,

Thanks for your the sample code and the update dll’s. I think it was my mistake, I did not set the message format and hence I was getting the problem.

Msg to PDF/a is working fine.

Thanks and Regards

Alexey,

Thanks for your help, it works fine.

Shahzad/Muhammd,

The only pending issues are PDFKITNET-10208, PDFKITNET-11313, FORMNET - 18090 and FORMNET - 18091.

I know that your team is busy working on either other priority issues or still scoping the requirment for the above issues/features.

Most of the document that I need to convert to PDF/A are either PDF or .xml (Infopath) files. Also, one of the main requirement is to check if the file is already PDF/A. All of these are part of the issues above.

The problem is that I cannot start my development without the above features using your product. This has a major impact on my project delivery.

Do you have any alternative solution that I can use to achive PDF/A conversion for PDF and .xml(Infopath) whilst your team is working on it. Once you are ready I can change my code.

Thanks and Regards

Tushar Patel

Hi Tushar,

As far as these two features are concerned (PDFKITNET-10208, PDFKITNET-11313), I’m afraid, we are unable to provide you the resolution is short time. The earliest we can provide these features is the end of this year i.e. Q4 release of 2010.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions, please do let us know.

Could I get an example of using this new feature please?

Amjad,

I have tried using apsose.cells to convert to PDF/A and found issue while converting a Excel spreadsheet having Macro’s enabled.

I was wondering if you have encountered any problems related to conversion when a excel document is macro enabled.

The issue is that the converted document is more than the actual pages of the excel spreadsheet as the conversion also includes hidden fields.

Let me know if you have seen this issue and if yes then can you give some guidance what can be done.

Thanks and regards

Tushar Patel

Hi,

Please post your template Excel file and generated PDF file with your sample code here, we will check your issue soon.

Thank you.

Can you please give me an example of Infopath to PDF/A for the fix no. 18090 and 18091.

Hi Tushar,

Please check this article http://www.aspose.com/documentation/.net-components/aspose.form-for-.net/how-to-convert-infopath-forms-to-pdf-in-a-console-application.html for a code example on these issues.

Best Regards,

Muhammad,

I have tried using new InfoPath to PDF/A converstion.

I keep getting below error while trying to use your code.

Aspose.Form (version: 3.1.0.0) exception. Unable to find the file TemplateInfo.aspxREQ=XSD%26U=.xsd in archive

I have attached .xml and .xsn file for your debugging.

Also, I was wondering is it required to pass the .xsn path. My forms will be loaded from sharepoint site and the .xml file will contain the .xsn path. This .xsn path is a http address. Is it not possible for your code to get the .xsn path from .xml file.

Thanks and Regards

Tushar Patel:
Once you have converted a file into PDF/A, I assume the extension will be .Pdf. So, is there any way to differenciate between PDF and PDF/A. This is because I don't want to do the conversion again if it is already converted to PDF/A.

Hi Steve,

I’m very sorry to share with you that these new features have been rescheduled. We’ll be able to provide the appropriate ETA for these features at the end of the Q2’2011.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
Regards,

Are there any updates to the ETA's for the outstanding features listed in this thread please?

Thanks, Steve.

Hi Steve,

I’m afraid, Aspose.Pdf.Kit related issues are not yet resolved. However, they’re expected to be resolved at the end of Q2’2011.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
Regards,

As we are at the end of Q2'2011 has there been any progress?

Also I see that support for conversion from InfoPath to PDF/ PDF/A has been removed. Are there any plans to reinstate this as we have a large number of InfoPath forms to convert from to PDF/A and are looking to pick a conversion tool shortly?
