Grid is not in an Edit mode

We are evaluating the Grid to meet out requirements. While doing so we were created a test website in VS 2005, found that the Grid is in Read Only mode, even though we have set the EditMode property of the Grid to True.

Could you please provide let us know, how we can make the Grid Editable, since we wanted to test the Copy and Paste from Excel and Vice-a-versa and also making some selected columns Read only?

Would be appreciated if you could promptly provide the remedy.
