Having trouble getting the workflow actions to show up in SPDesigner

Having trouble getting the workflow actions to show up in SPDesigner. The error is referencing a dll version that is lower than the dll in the assembly and in the web.config.

Really could use your help with this.

If anyone has this issue you can try to edit the Aspose.SharePoint.CovertToPDF.actions and the other .actions files in your Layouts directory. Most likely found here Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\1033\Workflow. The Assembly attribute in the Action tag needs to be updated like so:
Assembly=“Aspose.Pdf.SharePoint2010, Version=1.9.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=716fcc553a201e56”

I’m not 100% certain this fixes the issue completely and doesn’t break anything else. I gave up waiting on SUPPORT to help me. ;(

Had to make some changes in the RuleDesigner Tag as well. This is the whole xml markup:

<?xml version=“1.0” encoding=“utf-8” ?>

<WorkflowInfo>

<Actions>

<Action Name=“Convert file to PDF via Aspose.PDF”

ClassName=“Aspose.WorkflowActivities.SharePoint.PDF.Converter.ConvertToPDF”

Assembly=“Aspose.Pdf.SharePoint2010, Version=1.9.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=716fcc553a201e56”

AppliesTo=“doclib”

Category=“Aspose Actions”

UsesCurrentItem=“true”>

<RuleDesigner Sentence=“Convert the current item to PDF and put it in %1. %2 overwrite existing files. Store the output message in %3.”>

<FieldBind Field=“DestinationFolder” Text=“this folder” Id=“3” DesignerType=“TextArea” />

<FieldBind Field=“OutMessage” DesignerType=“ParameterNames” Text=“Output message” Id=“1”/>

<FieldBind Field=“Overwrite” DesignerType=“Dropdown” Text=“Do not” Id=“2” >

<Option Name=“Do not " Value=“False” />

<Option Name=“Do " Value=“True” />

</FieldBind>

</RuleDesigner>

Hi Jamie,

Thanks for contacting support and sorry for the delayed response.

Are you getting the problem when trying to export SharePoint items to PDF format using Aspose.Pdf for SharePoint ? Is the component properly installed over your machine. Please acknowledge so we may further look into this matter.

We are really sorry for this inconvenience.

I experienced issues installing Aspose.Pdf and then seeing the Actions in SharePoint Designer. I was able to make a few changes to the .actions files and get the actions to show up. But I worry I could possibly be creating other issues by doing so. If you will look in the .wsp that comes with the trial download I think you will find some differences in the version of Aspose.Pdf that is referenced.

Just want to check if you guys have had a chance to look into this or if you need more information from me.

Hi Jamie,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. It is not recommended to update files manually regarding Aspose.Pdf for SharePoint workflow feature. We will appreciate it if you please download and try latest version of Aspose.Pdf for SharePoint 2010. If issue persist then please share the error message and logs from c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS\ folder.

Best Regards,

I have the same issue but I have not made any changes to any files whatsoever.
I downloaded and installed this today from your website.

The PDF converter is working from within our SharePoint site however when I go to SharePoint Designer 2010 and try to add a workflow I get the following error:
The list of workflow actions on the server references an assembly that does not exist. Some actions will not be available. The assembly strong name is Aspose.Pdf.SharePoint 2010, Version=1.8.0.0
And if I click through the error the new workflow Actions are missing.

Hi Sian,

I no longer get the error however I still do not see the Aspose actions when adding a new workflow.

Is there something additional that I need to do to make this work?

The solution is deployed on my site collection and is working from within the site.

Hi Sian,

Thanks for your inquiry. I am afraid I am unable to notice the reported issue, I can see Aspose actions in [Action list](http://prntscr.com/6ilran). Can you please double check whether workflows feature is activated in Site Collection Administration? Moreover, please share some more details(screenshot) about the issue.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
