“HeadingPairs” and "TitlesOfParts" tags are lost after conversion legacy PPT and XLS

Thanks for reminding me. If you reject CELLSNET-46644, you should reject SLIDESNET-40998 too (Aspose.Slides works the same way as per MS PowerPoint).

But, as you know, Aspose.Words doesn’t work the same way as per MS Word and removes “HeadingPairs” and “TitlesOfParts” tags. So we wait for WORDSNET-18411.

Best regards,
Alex Shloma

@licenses,

Alright, we will check if we can support your needs in Aspose.Cells. I have logged your concerns against your issue into our database too. We need to streamlined this across all the APIs (Aspose.Words, Aspose.Cells and Aspose.Slides) for sure. Moreover, we will discuss this matter with all other teams (Aspose.Words, Aspose.Slides, etc.) and once we have an update on it, we will let you know.

@licenses,

If you remove all “HeadingPairs” and “TitlesOfParts” tags, saved the file as XLS file, and then re-save the XLS file as XLSX file with MS Excel, you will find “HeadingPairs” and “TitlesOfParts” tags are restored. Anyways, we can provide a property which indicates whether the tags should be exported or not. Does it fit your needs?
After your confirmation, we will look into it to support the feature for your needs.

Hi @Amjad_Sahi,

If during converting to xlsx developer should set property, which indicates whether the tags should be exported or not, then it doesn’t fit our needs. We do not know whether tags should be present, but we convert xls to xlsx to find out this.

Best regards,
Alex Shloma

@licenses,

Thanks for your feedback.

Please spare us little to evaluate if we can support your needs accordingly. Once we have an update on it, we will let you know.

@licenses,

Please try our latest version/fix: Aspose.Cells for .NET v19.5.6 (attached).

We have fixed your issue “CELLSNET-46664” now.

Please note, if there is no tags in the template XLSX file, the tags will not be restored. But, if the template file is not an XLSX file and is converted to XLSX file format, the tags will be restored.

Hope, this suits your needs.

Hi @Amjad_Sahi,

But the fact of the matter is that we need to convert XLS file to XLSX. So, this doesn’t suit our needs.

Hi @Amjad_Sahi,

This is not what we ideally wanted, but it covers our needs. Thanks for the work!
To make sure this logic works the same for all MS Office files, you need to reject WORDSNET-18411, but fix SLIDESNET-40998.

Many thanks,
Alex Shloma
