How align text to the BOTTOM of a segment?

I need to place small caps into my document. To do this I use XML like

This displays the text “Career Liftoff™ Interest Inventory” in small-caps EXCEPT that the TOP of each letter is aligned. I need a single BASELINE with the BOTTOMS of the letters aliging.

How do I do this?

Additional Question: How do I center an entire paragraph?

In the previous message, I have a single text object which contains multiple segments. What is not shown in the example, is how the text object is contained in a table cell. I would like to center the entire group of segments within the cell. I have tried placing the Alignment attribute on the text object, but it appears to be ignored.
