I have tested with the attached HTML file, however the component throws an ‘Invalid Base64’ exception, although the HTML renders fine in any browser. Please advise.

We were able to observe the issue you have reported and logged it as EMAILNET-38980 for further investigation. We’ll notify you here once there is some information or a fix version available in this regard.
