using IconSet and SymbolSet32 I want to use a blank icon instaed of the green tick - can I change the icon in vb .net code ?

Yes, it would be possible. However, please provide us your sample expected excel file which you can create manually using Microsoft Excel and attach it here for our reference. We will look into it and generate similar excel file using Aspose.Cells APIs and provide you a sample code.
