Javadoc for cells and word is invalid

Javadoc for 18.8 Word and 18.8 Cells is invalid, missing package-list file.

Javadoc for 18.7 PDF is fine, why are they packaged differently (and invalidly)?

The build artefacts for all the Aspose product line should behave/work identically.

Why are the online API docs also different from the standard - they should be usable “as is” just by adding a URL to your IDE of choice (Netbeans, IntelliJ, Eclipse, etc.)?

Not being able to access Javadoc from your editor of choice is unacceptable for an expensive commercial product!

@sdxmessaging,

Please check this POM file if it works on your end?. pom.zip (503 Bytes)

It should reference latest version of Aspose.Words for Java i.e. 18.8 and the JavaDocs in your project.

@sdxmessaging,

Regarding Aspose.Words for Java:

Yes, our internal JavaDocs documentation generation tool is not up to date. We already have logged a big task to fix this. The ID of this issue is WORDSJAVA-1406.

About JavaDocs for Aspose.Words for Java 18.8 missing package-list file - We have a very flat package structure so it was decided to remove package-list file. But, we can re-add it for compatibility. To address this problem, we have logged a new issue with ID WORDSJAVA-1877.

I am afraid, the online JavaDocs will no longer work and there is no link that you can use for this purpose; this is because we have moved the API documentation to pure online confluence-based system. However, we have logged another issue (ID: WORDSJAVA-1878) to check how does our external JavaDocs (that you can reference as mentioned in POM file) work on major three IDEs i.e. IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, NetBeans?

We will keep you posted on further updates.

Thanks, with such powerful APIs I think it’s very important to make the Javadoc easily accessible, standards-compliant - and of course up to date, as the Aspose products are always being improved.

Great products need great documentation, and the Java version needs top-notch Javadoc that works “out of the box” with the popular IDEs.

Many thanks for raising these two issues, and look forward to a resolution in up coming releases.
