Keywords 0x8020101F

Hi,

Is there a way i can put categories/kewords to the email.

I'm trying to set the named property tag 0x8020 Keywords without luck.

It seems that it lacks support for PT_MV_UNICODE i can only find

MapiPropertyType.PT_MV_xxx

Please use the following sample code for reading the MAPI property tag keyword.

Thanks for your reply, but the property you set is not the correct one.

I want to set the named property 0x8020 Keywords, please see attached screenshot.

Maybe there is an other way to put categories on the email?

Could you please post your sample MSG here. From the screenshot, it looks like a multi-valued property.

Hi,

And once again thank you for your reply.

Your code works flawless, but the problem is that it should be a property with the type PT_MV_UNICODE and not PT_UNICODE.. If i use your code outlook will not show any categories on the email.

And if you change it to PT_MV_xxx you will get this exception: "Non supported data type is specified in property tag"

I just got the update from the developers that this issue has been resolved by adding PT_MV_STRING8 and PT_MV_UNICODE types. The fix will be included in the next release, which will be available by the end of this month (June 2011).

Hi,

I’m trying to add a new Outlook category to an existing MSG file, using Aspose Email for .Net (C# language).

I’ve tried the above code, but it doesnt seem to work. When I reopen the saved message, the new category does not appear in Outlook. I’ve tried with Outlook 2010.

Here is my code:

MapiMessage message = MapiMessage.FromFile(@“test.msg”);

var p = message.NamedProperties[0x8005101F]; //0x8005101F = tag name for "Keywords"

We have analyzed the available data and found that using the property id 0x8005101F is inappropriate here as constant id cannot be used for a named property. So please use storage.GetNextAvailablePropertyId(MapiPropertyType.PT_MV_STRING8) and link it with Guid("00020329-0000-0000-C000-000000000046"); as given in the following code. Please give a try to the following sample code and let us know your feedback.

//Open an existing mail message
MapiMessage msg = MapiMessage.FromFile("test2.msg");
//Get named property storage of message
MapiNamedPropertyMappingStorage storage = msg.NamedPropertyMapping;

Thanks for your reply. I’ve tried with your code but it still doesn’t work, I have a “Cannot read the item” error when trying to open the output.msg file in Outlook.

Here are some info about the version of Aspose.Email I’m currently using:

Product version: 2011.09.28

Hi Alex,

Here a complete project is attached which generates output.msg that can be opened in Outlook 2010. I am using Windows 7 64bit system and Visual Studio 2008. Please give a try to this project and let us know your feedback.

Hi Kashif,

Some news: I’ve tried with your project, I still have the same error “Cannot read the item” when trying to open the output msg.

Then I’ve tried with the categories.msg file that you had left in the bin\debug directory, and it worked, I was able to open the output msg and I could see the new categories in Outlook.

With any msg that I drag and drop from Outlook to the disk, I have the error.

I have attached a sample input msg file (testemail1.zip) that produces the error, maybe you can do some tests on your side with this email.
