Have you tried using 23.6 version of the API as we tested using this version in our environment and were unable to notice any issues. Please try using the latest available version and let us know in case you still notice any issues.
I have tried using 23.6 version and occured this problem by jdk1.8.

We again tested the scenario and found out that if we remove pdf.setBackground(Color.white); line in PdfDemo.java:26, the exception won’t occur.
