Micro PDF417 and Micro QR Code support?

Hi there,

Does the BarCode library support Micro PDF 417 or Micro QR Code? I’m looking to have the smallest 2D possible and as I understand it, those are a good avenue for me.

Cheers,

Mark
Hi Mark,

Thank you for contacting support. Please note that the barcode size also depends upon the code text. You can use Aspose.BarCode for .NET library which helps to get minimum sized image and then extend its size according to the requirement. Please go through the help topic: Generate Barcode Using Custom Width Support. The GetOnlyBarCodeImage method will return you the minimum possible size and then you can use GetCustomSizeBarCodeImage method to adjust its size. Please don't truncate its original width or height otherwise you could face recognition failure problems.

You can also manage code bars by setting the xDimention, BarHeight, AutoSize and ImageUnit properties. Please refer to the appropriate help topics: Set Height of the Bars in the Barcode Image, Set Code text for Barcode.

We hope, this helps. Please feel free to reply us in case of any confusion or questions.

Hi there,

Unfortunately I’m not talking about the size of the barcode, but rather the standard of barcode being used. Micro QR Code and Micro PDF417 are separate standards from their larger counterparts QR Code and PDF417. For example in this link:
Micro QR Code | QRcode.com | DENSO WAVE

You’ll see that the Micro QR Code is completely different from the QR Code. I’m guessing that you don’t support either of the micro standards like the GDPicture.net library does?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for the clarification. Aspose.BarCode API supports encoding and decoding of Macro PDF417 codes. The help topics are as follows:

Generate Multiple MacroPdf417 Barcodes for Large or Multiple Codetext Values

Read Multiple Macro Pdf417 Barcodes

However, it appears as Macro PDF417 and Micro PDF417 are two separate symbologies. We’re in communication with our development team and will get back to you soon.

Furthermore, the Micro QR code is not supported. We have logged a feature request under ticket id BARCODENET-34053 in our issue tracking system. Your post has also been linked to this issue. We’ll keep you informed regarding any available updates.

Secondly, please also clarify that, do you require the features to encode Micro PDF417/QR codes, decode Micro PDF417/QR codes or both?

Hi Mark,

Regarding Micro PDF417 code, we have logged a feature request under ticket id BARCODENET-34054 in our issue tracking system. Your post has also been linked this issue for auto notification purposes. We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for being patient. The latest version of Aspose.BarCode API supports reading MicroPdf417 codes and does not support its encoding. Please clarify that you require encoding, decoding or both feature operations. It’ll help us to be more specific.

Imran,

I really appreciate that you’re active on this issue. Regarding your question, my requirement would be both read and create MicroPDF417. The barcode symbology that I’d prefer to use is Micro QR Code. If you at Aspose can read and create those, that’d be ideal for my purposes.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thank you for the confirmation. Regarding issue id BARCODENET-34053, we have split it into two parts as follows:

BARCODENET-34053 - Add encoding support of Micro QR code
BARCODENET-34060 - Add decoding support of Micro QR code

We have also linked these issues with this forum thread. We’ll also keep you informed regarding any available updates.

Thank you very much! I look forward to hearing about any progress on these items.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thank you for being patient. We have a good news for you that the issue id BARCODENET-34054 has now been resolved. If there is no issue in the QA phase, then this fix will be included in the next version of Aspose.BarCode for .NET 6.9.0. We’ll inform you via this forum thread as soon as the new release is published.

Imran,

That is great news. It’s nice to see that Aspose works quite quickly to solve customer needs.

I just wanted to clarify, is 34054 the ticket that deals with both reading and writing of MicroPDF417, or MicroQR?

This was split into another two tickets as well.
BARCODENET-34053 - Add encoding support of Micro QR code
BARCODENET-34060 - Add decoding support of Micro QR code

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Thank you for asking about this clarification. Aspose.BarCode API has already supported reading MicroPdf417 codes. It is to generate MicroPdf417 codes. We have asked a question about this in our earlier post. Once the encoding of MicroPdf417 is available for public use, then you will be able read and write MicroPdf417 codes.

Please feel free to reply us in case of any confusion or questions.

Thank you for the clarification Imran. Regarding 34053 and 34060, are those in development? If so, do we have an idea when that will be built?

Cheers,
Mark
