Open microsoft word prepared for a mail merge?

Hi,
I’d like to know if it is possible, from a web browser (asp.net application), can I open a Microsoft Word document (in the word application itself), with the combined mails and data (this would be done in the server application). That way the user could easily edit the word template and just click the “send” button, insetad running the mail merge wizard of MSWord.
