Hope this helps,
I am facing the same issue when trying to install any Aspose component on Vista Business. The installer simply rolls back and then Vista protection kicks in and kills the installer.
Unfortunately the hint in Paulo Reichert’s blog with the batch file using msiexec /i did not work so I am hoping that you will fix this soon - or simply move over to another deployment product.
Best regards,
Tillman
Strange, it worked for all other customers which had this problem. Have you run that batch as administrator?
Yes, I did. I also tried to execute the msiexec /i from the shell which I had invoked with admin privilleges also with no luck. I do not get any specific error number by the way but the installer just abruptly ends and rolls back.
I would really love to test drive .words and .pdf in combination because I am currently generating WordML invoices and have them saved as PDF by Word2007 and you can imagine that this ExportAsFixed method is being everything but stable.
My main concern with your product though is (apart from the fact that I currently cannot install it) that your WordML parser and PDF generation routine will not reproduce my invoices in exact detail. At least that is what is stopping me from using the Alt-Soft and Ecrion component. But maybe you guys are just better!
Best regards,
Tillman
Yes, that happens exactly as you described, we have just been able to reproduce the problem. Looks that we need to generate a separate installation package for Windows Vista. We are working on this problem and will probably resolve it in a in a week or so.
Concerning WordML, our conversion capabilities are excellent and practically imitate MS Word one-to-one. PDF export has slightly less fidelity, but it is still one of the best on the market. Right now we are working on an improved PDF export engine and will hopefully release it in a couple of months.
I really appreciate your quick response Vladimir!
So I will sit tight and wait for the new installation package. It would be great if you were posting info about availability in this thread so that I would be automatically informed.
Regarding the WordML I am happy to hear that your component might be the first to be actually usable. I am assuming that I could load WordML and save as DOC (almost) without degradation in fidelity then? Then I would need some other component to convert DOC to PDF. Any ideas where to look? I really don’t have the option of waiting any longer then a couple of weeks for this. Word 2007 is driving me insane.
Thanks for your support!
Best regards,
Tillman
I suggest you hang on with our current PDF for a while, it is quite good actually, and then we can upgrade you to a new PDF renderer on no charge.
About Vista. We have found that installation rolls back on one Vista machine and installs normally on another. The first machine is actually a development and has been messed up hard. The second one is a clean installation. What exactly causes the installation to fail, we don’t know yet, but we keep probing.
Hi,
We have released Aspose.Words 4.3.0:
