Is there anyway to tell if an embedded file should be extracted with a PPT or PPTX extension?

I have given you an word document with an embedded Power Point presentation. When I extract out the power point how do I know if I should save it as a PPT or PPTX.


For example

shape.getOleFormat().getProgId() will tell me the file type and version, but is there any comprehensive list that maps the ProgId to the extension to save as?
