I noticed that the project title defaults to filename with no class members to allow explicit changes. Is there a particular reason to dismiss this field or is it possible to add it? Thanks.

Thanks for your consideration.
ProjectTab property was created for that but looks like it works for Project 98 only (MPX format). For example Project 2003 doesn’t use this property and always set title of project the same as name of file.
Project Database format supports it correctly so it will be implemented in the next release.
In Project2003 if you open the ‘Properties’ for a project (File->Properties) there is a ‘Title’ field on the ‘Summary’ tab. All the other fields in the summary are modifiable through the API (e.g. Subject and Keywords) but I can’t find any way to set or read the Title property. It defaults to the file name on creation but that’s it.
