Question: Support of old Excel versions

Hello,

We have a customer using old Excel files like the attached one. My question is: do you have any plans of supporting such formats in the future?
And is there any workaround that you can recommend for handling this?

Thanks!
Vassil

Hi Vassil,

Thank you for contacting Aspose support.

I am afraid, Aspose.Cells APIs do not support the Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook format and probably will never support this legacy format. Please note, Aspose.Cells APIs only support BIFF8 and greater file formats. Regarding the workaround, unfortunately, we cannot suggest a dynamic way to directly load such files with Aspose.Cells APIs, however, if you can load these files with Excel application to re-save them in some newer/recent formats then you can process the resultant spreadsheets with Aspose.Cells APIs.

@DWProject,

Aspose.Cells now supports older MS Excel file formats, including MS Excel 95/5.0 and 97, alongside its robust compatibility with newer versions such as MS Excel 2007, 2010, 2013, 2019, 2021 Workbook, Office 365, and OpenOffice formats. This enhancement ensures greater flexibility and usability across a wide range of Excel versions.

For detailed information on all supported file formats, please refer to the Supported File Formats documentation.

We encourage you to download the latest version of Aspose.Cells using the links below:
