Regarding Memory usage degradation on update from Aspose Word 19.3 to 20.6

Hello Aspose Team,

Background :

  1. We use “Aspose Word for Java” library to generate Word Document.
  2. We use the same “Aspose Word for Java” library to convert the Word Document to PDF

This release we have upgraded Aspose Word library from 19.3 (aspose-words-19.3.0-jdk16.jar) to 20.6 (aspose-words-20.6-jdk17.jar).

The result for time and memory usage test is as below:

For Words (.doc) :
1. The average time had improved by 0.67%
2. The average memory used degraded by 6%

For Words (.docx) :
1. The average time had improved by 0.8%
2. The average memory used degraded by 3.9%

For PDF:
1. The average time had improved by 0.8%
2. The average memory used degraded by 1.9%

So for Word document the memory usage increased by 6% & 3.9%. We also found the Excel document, memory usage increased by 7%, but i will write a topic for Excel in Excel forum.

Do Aspose also found the same Memory usage increase?

@Zeeshan_Noor_Khan,

To ensure a timely and accurate response, please ZIP and attach the following resources here for testing:

  • Your simplified input Word document
  • A standalone simple Java application (source code without compilation errors) that helps us to reproduce/observe this memory degradation problem on our end and attach it here for testing. Please do not include Aspose.Words JAR files in it to reduce the file size.
  • Any other necessary resources required to reproduce the issue on our end.

As soon as you get these pieces of information ready, we will start investigation into your scenario and provide you more information.

Hi Zeeshan, I’m irritated by your explanation for the doc and docx observations.
You wrote average memory used degraded by x.x%. That would be good. Or do you mean usage increased? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Just asking, because memory is always an issue

Patrick
