Size differences between saving to response stream and saving to HDD

Hi

I noticed size differences. I wonder why.

When I save .doc file to HDD the size is about 10MB.

However, when I save file into http response stream to download file, the file size is about 12MB.

The page count and even word count are the same in both.

Can you give me answer?

Http stream response are usualy bigger than HDD file because of the CRC encoding needed for transport layer, network layer… just an idea.
