Slow Printing on 64bit machines

Hi,

We recently upgraded our server from a 2003 32 bit machine to a 2012 64 bit machine. After the upgrade printing “works” but seems to be regularly 3 - 4 times as slow as on the 32 bit machine. I can even duplicate this behavior across my local development environments (32 bit vs 64 bit Win 7 machines). Our application is using 10.1.0.0 but I was able to duplicate the issue using 10.8.0.0 as well.

This is a .Net 4.0 application.

even using the examples from other posts in this forum printing to the Microsoft XPS Document Writer seems to take 10 to 14 seconds (and printing to physical printers is taking 40 - 50 seconds). The exact same code run on a 32 bit machine runs pretty much instantly.

Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your inquiry. I have tested the scenario on 32 bit Win XP and 64 bit Win 7 and noticed that printing is two times faster on 32 bit than 64 bit, so logged a ticket PDFNEWNET-39450 in our issue tracking system for further investigation and resolution. We will notify you as soon as it is resolved.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Best Regards,
