Smallcaps letters not rendered as capitals when exporting to pdf

When using ‘SmallCaps’ in the word document all letters are rendered in uppercase with the first letter of the word being slightly larger than the rest of the letters in the word - as expected in a word document.

However, when I export this document to pdf, second and later letters are not rendered in uppercase.
