This issue is due to invalid data argument passed to the project.setStartDate(). Also it is observed that you are using old library which is revamped into a more enhanced library. Aspose now provides support for the new enhanced library only.

Could you please send us the sample console application which can be used here to re-produce the scenario? Please make it sure that you are using latest library Aspose.Tasks for Java 8.4.0 in your sample application. It will help us to analyze the problem and provide assistance as soon as possible.
