Upgrading License to the latest version

Hi,
Currently we are using ASPOSE.PDF.KIT 5.8 Version. We have been provided with a license file for the version 2.5.2.

We have been told by the sales person that we can use the same license file.
Now when tried to apply the same license file for the latest version , we have been resulted with the following message.

unable to send message response. Error retreiving w2 Detail W2.GetW2Detail(entityid=COCACOLA, webid=258615692, W2Id=103676, TaxYear=2008, CompanyId=KOCCC).The subscription included in this license allows free upgrades until 12 Sep 2008, but this version of the product was released on 27 Jul 2011. Please renew the subscription or use a previous version of the product. at x22bcffa34b42a390.x220f433da4115056.x7d0214bf69711dd9(Stream xcf18e5243f8d5fd3)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The application is identifying the license file , but requesting to renew the subscription.

Can u please help us on this .

Following is the code we have been using to map the license placed accordingly.

Aspose.Pdf.License asposeLicense = new Aspose.Pdf.License();

asposeLicense.SetLicense(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["AsposeLicenseFile"]));

where the ket is set as follows in the web.config file.

Note : we have already bought the latest version of ASPOSE.PDF for this but currently facing issues with the importfdf fucntion of the new dll. A ticket is also raised for it.

Hi Rafael,

I would like to share with you that you may continue using a license file for any releases published during one year of the purchase of your license. You can use the license for such releases for as long as you want; there is no limit. However, if you want to upgrade to a version which was published after the expiry of your license, it will not work, I’m afraid. In such cases, you’ll have to upgrade the license as well.

Moreover, I would also like to inform you that we’re going to discontinue Aspose.Pdf.Kit from October 2011, that’s why the license for this component is not available for purchase anymore. Instead, we have introduced [merged Aspose.Pdf](https://blog.aspose.com/2011/07/01/first-version-of-merged-aspose.pdf-for-.net-is-now-available-for-download), which contain features of both Aspose.Pdf and Aspose.Pdf.Kit.

I would recommend you to use Aspose.Pdf and if you find any issue or concern with that, please report in Aspose.Pdf forum.

Hello. I know you are not aware of the full story. We realized we needed to upgrade the current version of our PDF kit. It's 1.2 and we need the latest (5.8?). So I dutifully got an estimate for that update from Sheila in your sales dept. She told me about how this kit will be obsolete soon. I assured her that I knew that but I needed to get a project out fast, and would update to the latest kit after the project was over. So I placed my order.

Instead of receving what I ordered, I received the latest PDF for NET at significant additional cost. As expected (you can see from other postings heter) the new library didn't work. I have been trying to obtain the library I need, which is the latest library of the pdf kit we have. But it has not been possible. Finally Sheila in sales assures me that since I paid extra and got something I didn't order I could download the latest pdf kit and use the old license. Now you're telling me to order what I have already ordered.

Please! This has been going on for weeks and I have a release due to about three weeks. Is there no one in Aspose who can set this right? This level of support leaves a lot to be desired.

I appreciate any help you can provide!

I do understand your concern. Also, I’m afraid, I wasn’t aware of the full story. In fact, the new license for merged Aspose.Pdf doesn’t work with Aspose.Pdf.Kit; however, if you had a valid license for Aspose.Pdf.Kit, that could work with merged Aspose.Pdf. Well, I understand, that won’t help in your scenario. I’ll have to talk to our sales team to see if they could help you somehow in this regard. We’ll get back to you shortly.
