What Components are installed?

I have a Load Balanced \ Highly Available SharePoint, SSRS, SQL 2005 and ASP.NET environment.

For the SSRS & SharePoint - Total Products, what ASPOSE components get installed where?

Web Server?

App Server?

Db Server?

Reporting Server?

Developer Desktop?

Hello Rob,

Thanks for considering Aspose.

I am a representative from Aspose.Pdf for Reporting Services team. When you run Aspose.Total for Reporting Services installer and select Aspose.Pdf for Reporting Services to get installed with SQL 2005 Reporting Services, it copies Aspose.Pdf.ReportingServices.dll to \Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.x\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin directory. Where can be C:\Program Files or any other location. More along, it also updates the information inside \rsreportserver.config and \ rssrvpolicy.config files.

In case you have Visual Studio 2005 Report Designer (Business Intelligence Development Studio) installed, Aspose.Pdf.ReportingServices.dll is copied to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies directory. Also some information inside RSReportDesigner.config and RSPreviewPolicy.config is updated to register the component.

For more information, please visit Install Manually, which explains the steps that are required to install Aspose.Pdf for Reporting Services manually.

In case I have not properly answered your query or you have any further query, please feel free to contact.

Thanks for the response Nayyer,

To my original question, which server do I run the install on?

Web Server? App Server? Db Server? Reporting Server?

Do we need to install anything on the Developer Desktop?

If I am load balanced, do I need to install teh setup package on both servers?

Hi,

You only need to install Aspose.Total for Reporting Services package over Reporting Server. In fact, Aspose products are rendering extensions for SQL Reporting Services. From client's desktop, you can simply access Reporting Services instance and you will see "PDF export via Aspose.Pdf" option over it.

Please take a look over following video tutorials related to Aspose.Pdf for Reporting Services for better understanding on

In case still I have not properly understood your requirements or you have any further query, please feel free to contact.

Thanks again Nayyer, very helpful.

How about for the SharePoint.Total Product?

Which serevr(s) would this product get installed on?

Would it work similar as SSRS, where the ASPOSE plug-ins would be available to the developers when connecting to the site?

Hello Rob,

I would have loved to answer the query regarding SharePoint server but I am not entirely certain about its configurations because Aspose.Pdf product family does not have any component for SharePoint services. However, I believe one of my fellow members will answer this query shortly. We apologize for the delay.

Thanks Nayyer, Should I submit anolther post directly to they SharePoint group or will they pick it up?

Do I need to purchase Developer Kits in addition to the Server Product?

Hello Rob,

I have requested the member from SharePoint products team to answer this query.

From developer's kit, do you mean you need to buy products like Aspose.Pdf for .NET or Aspose.Pdf for Java etc ? If so is the case, then let me share some details regarding these products. These components are used to develop applications that are .NET Framework or Java environment based and these products are comprised of certain API classes. Therefore, they enable you to create specific documents programmatically.

In case you have any further query, please feel free to contact.
