XLS doc with border gen a big XML file when converting to PDF

I have an excel document, which I have attached a sample, that has a border. When the document is rendered to pdf the xml file that is generated, which is then used to render the pdf file is huge. The document has only one line of information inside the border. The xml file being generated is creating 56,536 rows, even though they are empty rows. If you print the document using excel it only prints one page. Excel can determine that they are empty rows and does not generate pages of empty rows.
