would serve our needs before we purchase. We have SSRS 2008 reports where we
want some of the excel features, that we are not able to utilize with SSRS excel
rendering. For example like freeze panes, dynamic formula export to the excel.
We tried out Apose features and were able to bring the formula on to the Aspose
excel . But unfortuantely ,we could only get the first row displayed. Read somewhere
we have to use table format and not use first(fields!.value) ,tried both and
not were not successful. Is it possible to render all the rows with dynamic

Hi Aparna,

Thanks for your posting and using Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services.

We recommend you to kindly download and try the latest fixes (you may pick one for your environment).

1 - Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services v1.8.0.46 (SSRS2008)
2 - Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services v1.8.0.46 (SSRS2008R2)

Please copy Aspose.Cells.ReportingServices.dll into the folder: e.g ${SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services}\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin.

If the problem still occurs, please provide us your RDL file and the xls/xlsx rendering. We will check your issue soon.

Thank you.

Hi ,

Thanks for your posting and using Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services.

We think that you use Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services client to create report define file in excel.

And you have not set the table attribute, so the report does not display multiple rows .

Please refer to the following document for your help.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. Yes, I am using Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services.

As per Amjad – I tried downloading the fixes, but still running into the same issue of not displaying multiple rows.

As per Shakeel – I tried designing the report as per the document provided above “Create Tabular Report” and still having issues in rendering all the rows with dynamic formulas. Please guide.

Thanks,

Aparna.

Hi,

Could you provide us the sample RDL file and rendered Excel file(s) (e.g XLS. XLSX etc.) here, we will look into your issue soon.

Thank you.

Sure. But I don't see any option to attach files.

Thanks,

Aparna.

Hi,

Thanks for your posting and using Aspose.

Please click on Reply button and do not click on Quick Reply button, there you will see the option to attach files.

Please see the following screenshot for your help.

Thanks. Both .rdl and .xlsx files attached.

Hi,

We have found the issues and fixed.

Please try the fixed MSI installer: Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services V1.8.0.53 (MSI).

Please install Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services v1.8.0.53 at your PC.

And re-publish Aspose_InspectionsAvailabilityTest_2.rdl into report server and review.

Let us know your run results.

Thanks. It did work and the tool does serve our needs but we ran into other issues when we design a complex parameterized report. Since we are evaluating your product, we have some questions. Is there a contact # for us to use to contact your support/dev team to get our questions answered?

Thanks,

Aparna.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback and good to know that your issue is resolved.

"but we ran into other issues when we design a complex parameterized report. Since we are evaluating your product, we have some questions. Is there a contact # for us to use to contact your support/dev team to get our questions answered?"

Well, could you give us more details of your other issues you found. You may also start new threads, this way we can serve you better and organize the users issues. You may provide us sample RDL files, exported Excel reports, data source etc. We will check it soon.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask us using forums, our forum support is our trademark and is really quick and you may get speedy replies for your queries. Also, we don’t provide support via telephonic conversation.

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. We were trying to achieve couple of things using Aspose for our reporting -

  1. Design a parameterized report, create data source and data set connections, grouping, sorting, filtering functionality when exporting to excel. - All these we could achieve using combination of Aspose and SSRS.

  2. But there are couple of other things that we could not work it out while rendering an SSRS report to excel using Aspose –

i. Freezing header and certain columns when exported to excel

ii. Dynamic formula generation when exported to excel

iii. Hiding and unhiding columns based on parameters selected – This works in the SSRS report but when exported to excel using Aspose, it does not work.

Both .rdl and .xlsx files attached. There are more comments inserted in excel for your understanding. Please let us know if you need any more information. Thanks for your support.

Hi,

Thanks for your files (RDL, XLSX renderings).

We have logged your description in our database. We will soon look into your mentioned issues and provide you a fix or advise you asap.

This issue has been logged as SSRS-40057.

Hi,

Thanks for providing us the file(s).

We have checked your issues.

i. Freezing header and certain columns when exported to excel

    1. Use Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services client to open Aspose_InspectionsAvailabilityTest_3.rdl in MS Excel.
    1. Activate the cell of sheet1!B3 and select freeze panes from the menu to freeze the cell of sheet1!B3.
    1. Save the report and publish it.

ii. Dynamic formula generation when exported to excel

  1. &=Sum(Inspections.Total_Time_Hoursa) does not represent dynamic formula. The resource represents automatic subtotals, it is treated as static member.

iii. Hiding and unhiding columns based on parameters selected – This works in the SSRS report but when exported to excel using Aspose, it does not work.

  1. Currently, Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services report designer does not support the feature for hiding and un-hiding columns based on parameters selected. We may look into it in future versions.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I tried your suggestions for freezing header and columns - but after saving and publishing the report it does not carry on the changes i made in excel using Aspose.

Dynamic formula generation when exported to excel 4. &=Sum(Inspections.Total_Time_Hoursa) does not represent dynamic formula. The resource represents automatic subtotals, it is treated as static member. - Is there a way to make this as dynamic formula so that when user make changes it should reflect in the Sum.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks,

Aparna.

Hi Aparna,

Thanks for your feedback.

We will look into it and might provide you an updated copy of your RDL or provide other options for your needs. Please spare us a little time, so that we could figure it out.

Thank you.

Hi,

Just following up to see if you have any updates on the issue. Let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks,

Aparna.

Hi,

I am afraid your issue is still “Open”. I have asked the relevant developer to update on your issue. Once we have any update on it, we will let you know here.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused!

Hi,

We have found the issues and fixed them.

Please try the fixed version (attached): Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services V1.8.0.56.

Please refer to the following operates:

  • Please install the fixed version.
  • Open report define file by Aspose.Cells for Reporting Services client in Excel.
  • Update the value of “H4” cell at group row. ( “&=Sum(Inspections.Total_Time_Hoursa) “ è “=SUM(H3:H3)” )
  • Save and publish the report.

But, we suggest that don’t use dynamic formula to set sub-total because SQL Server Reporting Services does not support it.

By the way, we do no support dynamic formula “SUM” for footer at present.

Thank you.

Hi,

We would like to know if there is a way to use the parameters from the reports on the column headers. We have dynamic headers and do not know how to bring in the parameters , for ex, we need to display Team(Red) as the column name and need to get Red from the parameters.. Is that a possibility to get the parameters to the column header?

Also, is there a way to bring the header into the table as such. The reason, we ask is , when imported the rdls into aspose to add aspose features, the headers all basically becomes text fields as are not into the table any more.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Aparna
