And we have logged a ticket as GISNET- 579 in our issue tracking system to investigate the best implementation path of these possibilities. We do not promise quick implementation.

we can search Google for a lot about his advantages VS shapefile,
next is some shapefile Cons for me

  • Attribute names are limited to 10 characters //we use none-ascii char
  • File size is restricted to 2 GB
  • Sometime will get Encoding problem

Also, I have found that the GeoPackage format is non-proprietary, which gives some benefits over the MapInfo Tab format.
