App Crash with Aspose.GridDesktop

Pleas see attached Sampe Application and Sample file.

I can successfully load the Excel document, however if I resize the Windows Form, the Control is crashing.

How can I prevent the application of crashing? I there any possibillity to catch the error before the app is crashing?

I’m using 8.6.3.0 of Aspose.Cells.dll and Aspose.Cells.GridDesktop.dll

Hi Sebastian,

Thank you for sharing the sample application and spreadsheet.

I have evaluated the presented scenario while using the Aspose.Cell & Aspose.Cells.GridDesktop 8.2.2, and I am able to replicate the System.ArgumentException: Parameter is not valid, while resizing the form containing the GridDesktop control. In order to further investigate the matter, this incident has been logged as CELLSNET-44493. Please spare us little time to isolate the problem cause and get back with updates in this regard.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Hi Ralf,

Thank you for your feedback.

Please note, we are no longer able to replicate the said problem while using the latest revision of Aspose.Cells.GridDesktop 8.8.2.5, your project & sample spreadsheet. We will wait for your test project to evaluate the scenario on our side. Please try to include all dependencies (assemblies, sample spreadsheets) in your test project’s archive and share it here along with your environment details such as locale of the machine, operating system version & architecture and so on.

Hello,

I’ve now updated the application. The error occurs when I rapidly change documents. In the example I have three Buttons “button2”, “button3” and “button4” which are showing three different documents on click.

When I click “button2” then “button3” then “button4” and “button3” again, I’ll get the error.

To illustrate I made a screencast here: http://ftp.go-s3.com/setup/Test.avi

I also uploaded the Bins here: http://ftp.go-s3.com/setup/ExcelViewerTestBin.zip

(just to verify I have the current DLLs)

The current project files are attached to this post.

My PC is running Windows 10 x64 (German)

Hi Ralf,

Thanks to your new sample application, we are able to replicate the said issue by following the steps you have mentioned. We have reopened the previously attached ticket CELLSNET-44493 and have requested the concerned member of the product team to reevaluate this scenario. As soon as we get any further updates in this regard, we will post here for your kind reference.

Hello,

do you have any News for me? Could you reproduce the Problem? Is there a timeline to fix the Problem?

Hi,

I am afraid, we haven’t heard from the product team on this issue. Please allow me some time to discuss the matter and get back with updates in this regard.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi again,

Ok I’m not a 100% sure if the error is fixed, because I now get a license error an I have to manually click the correct tab.

Can someone get in touch with me about the license?

Hi,

If your existing license is expired to use the latest version of Aspose.Cells.GridDesktop, you may apply for a 30 days temporary license here to test/check your issue.

Thank you.

Hello,

I find it a bit strange that I don’t get Access to the full update on this Control.

I mean this is clearly an error of the Software so it should eventualy respond with an error message then just Crash.

Hi,

Well, it is a bug in older version which was fixed in newer version/fix (Aspose.Cells.GridDesktop v8.8.3). Unfortunately, your license is expired to use latest versions of the product. So, we recommend you to kindly upgrade your subscription to use latest versions/fixes, Alternatively, we suggested to use 30 days temporary license to test the new version/fix. Or even, you may comment out the license code (in your project) to just test the new fix in a separate project if it works fine. Did you use/test your issue with the new license using latest version of the product? If you are still finding this issue, kindly do provide us your sample WinForm project with template file, we will check it soon.
