In previous versions of your product (prior to 2.8) saving a pdf to the output stream of an asp.net page worked great in Acrobat versions 5 and above. It appears that after upgrading to the latest version that only Acrobat version 7 is recognizing the stream as a PDF document.
To reproduce this create an asp.net handler setting the mime type to application/pdf and the content-disposition to attachment. You will only be able to open the file inline with version 7.
