Aspose.Cells vs Aspose.Reports

Greetings. We are looking to do some reporting and have looked at both the Aspose.Cells for .NET and Aspose.Reports for .NET. Our reports will be either HTML/PDF or an Excel download. After reading about both, we came to the conclusion that Cells can do more than Reports. Especially since a pivot table can be created with Cells. I have two questions about this.

1) We want to create an excel worksheet with raw data. Then create a second worksheet with a pivot table based on the raw data. We then want to add a pie chart on the pivot table worksheet. Finally, we want to turn the pivot table worksheet into a PDF. Is this possible using Aspose.Cells?

2) Aspose.Cells costs twice as much as Aspose.Reports, but it seems to me like it is twice as powerful. Is there anything that Aspose.Reports can do that Aspose.Cells cannot do?

Thanks you for your time.

Hi,

1) Well, you may create pivot tables and pivot charts in Excel formats (xls/xlsx etc.) but I am afraid, you cannot render pivot tables and charts in PDF conversion. The reason is we do not support to calculate the pivot table data or read pivot tables yet, we are already working on this feature. Hopefully, this will be support soon.

Anyways, I have logged your request into our issue tracking system with an id: CELLSNET-19340. We will notify you when it is done.

2) Well, Aspose.Report does have Chart component and you can make charts based on your data, but the charts are not conventional or native Excel charts. For further info, please post a query in Aspose.Report forum and Aspose.Report team would help you soon.

Thank you.
