Aspose PDF and Word usage of System.Text.Encoding.CodePages

We are upgrading Aspose pdf to 24.10 and Aspose word to 24.11
The Aspose 24.10 has a dependency on System.Text.Encoding.CodePages version 5.0.0.0, which is deprecated. Can the Aspose PDF be updated to use the latest version (7…0.0), or if there are no vulnerabilities, can we use version 5.0.0.0 itself?

@bnantz

Can you please clarify if you are asking about the compatibility of Aspose PDF and Word with the latest version of System.Text.Encoding.CodePages or if you are looking for guidance on how to upgrade these libraries?

Asking about compatibility and if we can use version 7. If not then does version 5 have any cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

@bnantz,

Please see the Dependencies tab of Aspose.PDF for .NET 24.10 release page, it already supports or is compatible with System.Text.Encoding.CodePages 7.0.0 or greater versions.

@bnantz In Aspose.Words we will consider updating to the never version of System.Text.Encoding.CodePages. But actually, there should not be any problems with using newer version of this library in your application.

We are observing that when we have the 7.0.0 of system text encoding code pages, the save function of aspose pdf throws an exception saying it cannot load 5.0.0 of the system text encoding code pages.

@bnantz We already updated the dependency in Aspose.Words. The changes will be available in the next 24.12 version of Aspose.Words.

When will that release be available?

@bnantz,

Generally, Aspose.Words releases are published in the first half of each month. The exact release date for Aspose.Words 24.12 may not be specified as the releases are published once they are ready.
