we updated our system to Aspose.Slides JAVA 2.4.3 with latest MS Office Hotfix, but we always get the following exception:
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file
We use Java 1.5 and all required libraries are in the classpath. According to the requirement specification, all Java Releases with version 1.4 or above are supported.
I have observed the issue shared by you and like to share that in order to reproduce the issue on our end, I may need to have to source presentation for necessary investigation. Please share the source presentation for reproducing the issue on our end, so that we may proceed further on the issue.
i created a simple test case. I attached my files for testing to this post. When i use the aspose slides library version 2.4.0 then everything works fine, but when i switch to 2.4.3 i get a the unsupported class version exception. I used jdk1.5.0_21 for testing.
As i mentioned before, it seems that the current library version was compiled for Java 1.6 only.
I have set up your environment of JDK 1.5_21 and feel sorry to share that I have been able to reproduce the similar issue as shared by you. From the error details, it is evident that the mentioned product does not comply with JDK 1.5. However, I have verified its successful working with JDK 1.6. I have still added an issue with ID 25387 in our issue tracking system to have some feedback from our development team that whether the support for Aspose.Slides for Java 2.4.3 is available in JDK 1.5. I will share the information with you as soon as some feedback is shared by them.
Hi Mudassi, did you get any feedback from the development? We already invested a huge amount of work in this issue and need to solve this problem very urgently! Our costumers dont know where the problem is and why it does take such a long time to fix it. To remember: In the middle of december we had the problem within the MS-Office Update. We waited until the end of february/beginning of march until a fix was delivered. We bought a new license to install, because the fix was not made for Vers. 1.9. Now the compilation problem…
You might understand that we are not very happy with that kind of development and bugfixing. I dont know how to explain all this to our costumers and even to my boss.
It would be very nice if you could force the development to deliver the version complying to JDK 1.5.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience. I am pushing our development team for the updated status of the issue. Actually, we are in phase of preparation of product release of Aspose.Slides. We will share the ETA for the fix to issue during next week after the initial investigation carried out by our development team. I assure you that we are pursuing your issue on high priority.
I have discussed with our development team and we have observed that it is not an issue with Aspose.Slides for Java but some minor mistake during packaging of the product. We are hopeful to share the hotfix with you when the new package will be prepared along with fix for other issues. I shall update you further when some new information is shared by our development team.
We’ve been working on this problem since at least last December. What started out as an incompatibility between Aspose.Slides and a Microsoft Fixpack has now turned into a problem (“some minor mistake”) in packaging the library for the correct JDK. And still our customer has no reliable generation of PPT slides and keeps asking us when this issue will be sorted out.
Can you PLEASE give us a reliable date when we can expect the current release of the library, with the fix for the Microsoft incompatibility, packaged for the JDK that the customer environment we are using?
I like to share that I have requested our development team to share the updated status of the issue. It has been scheduled for this current week and we are hopeful to share some good news with you after investigation from our development team. We are really sorry for the inconvenience that you may be going through but I assure you that we are trying best to resolve all the issues shared and that includes yours as well.
I also got this error with the lib you posted two hours ago in this thread: http://www.aspose.com/community/forums/286190/latest-microsoft-office-hotfix-breaks-aspose.slides-for-java/showthread.aspx
How long it’s going to take that you release the new packaged lib?
As I have shared in my earlier post in this thread that the issue has been scheduled for investigation during current week. I will share the further information with you, once it is shared by our development team.
I have verified from our issue tracking system and like to share that the issue specified has been resolved. We are planning to new release of Aspose.Slides for Java during first week of May and it will be part of that. At the same we are also planning to share the hotfix version of Aspose.Slides for Java this week end and if it is released, we will be sharing the htofix with you as well.
the following error appears when I try to download the

I have just downloaded the specified product version and have been able to download that with no issue. Possibly, the time you might have tried to download the server may have gone down. Can you please give a try again and if there is an issue, please share with us.
There are two jar file shared in the hotfix version. One is supported with JDK 1.4 & 1.5 and other is supported on JDK 1.6. Have you tried both, as I tried the first one and it worked for me. Can you please try using the mentioned jar file.
