I'm getting multiple failures when executing the installer for Reporting Services. Tried installing to both my workstation and a development server environment. I need to install for SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2.
Errors include:
Failed to copy assembly to SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 server path
Failed to configure the rssvrpolicy.config file of SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services
Failed to configure the rsreportserver.config file of SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services
Other parts of the install/configuration process indicate success.
Is there an installer log file that will assist me in resolving these errors.
Thanks,
Glen
Hi,
We are sorry for your inconvenience.
I am afraid there are no installer logs that can be referenced. Although I can provide you a workaround for your situation.
Please note, such problem could occur due to the presence of multiple SQL Server instances on the same machine. The installer tries for find the correct SQL Server instance to make the necessary changes but it finds more than one instance and skips the process. You can fix this by manually pointing the installer to the correct rssvrpolicy.config and rsreportserver.config files.
In case above does not solve the problem then please refer to our online documentation. Below linked article will guide you step by step on how to manually setup Aspose.BarCode for Reporting Services.
Please feel free to write back if you have more inquiries or comments.

Babar,
Thanks for the information! I resolved two of the three errors by pointing through the installer by pointing to the correct Reporting Services directory. I copied the Aspose dll manually to the "bin" directory for the other problem.
I do have one further question which I hope you can resolve for me.
My purchasing manager bought Aspose Barcode for .Net. Do I need that product for a server install, or do I just need to install Aspose Barcode for Reporting Services? Do I need to install both? I'm a bit confused as to which (or both) products are required for a server installation.
Thanks,

Hi Glen,
It is good to know that you are up and running again.
If you just have the Aspose.BarCode for .NET license then you have to purchase Aspose.BarCode for Reporting Services license separately. This is due to the reason that all the products have their designated License files unless you have purchased Aspose.BarCode Product Family that includes Aspose.BarCode for .NET, Aspose.BarCode for Java, Aspose.BarCode for SharePoint and Aspose.BarCode for Reporting Services.
Hope this satisfies your inquiry. Please feel free to write back in case you have further questions.
Regards,
Sorry to bother you one more time.
I have spoken with our developer and I understand that he undertook using the Barcode for .Net installation so, in that sense, I am installing the correct product for the development he is performing.
My question is whether there are efficiencies to be gained from using the Barcode for Reporting Services product in a server environment that should be considered over the .Net product. In other words, are there performance efficiencies that make one product a more desirable choice than the other?
Thanks,
Glen Schwickerath
Hi Glen,
Thank you for writing back.
Please note, we recommend you to use Aspose.BarCode for Reporting Services if you want to generate barcodes on SQL Server Reports. It is the most efficient product to be used in the said environment and provides the BarCode Report Designer that is a light-weight yet fully featured report item designer.
Please check the product info pages for your reference,
