Prior to the manual installation, I tried the MSI install procedure but noticed it made no changes to the RSReportDesigner.config / RSPreviewPolicy.config files, and not even copy the Aspose assembly into that Visual Studio’s PrivateAssemblies folder.
(relevant assembly I picked: (Program Files)\Aspose\Aspose.Words for Reporting Services v5.0.1\Bin\ReportViewer2015\Aspose.Words.ReportingServices.dll)
Note I don’t get any error messages in Visual Studio when I open my test report and run the preview.
It’s just as if the Aspose extensions are completely ignored.
To integrate with Visual Studio 2015 Report Designer, copy Bin<b>SSRS2016\Aspose.Words.ReportingServices.dll to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 13.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies directory.
