Hello
FileFormatUtil.DetectFileFormat will detect many files as CSV, incorrectly!
One sample, but it’s in .zip format, please unzip and test the inner file using DetectFileFormat:
Aust.Dev.Nerd@outlook.com.zip (262.0 KB)
This file is actually Gzip/Tgz
@australian.dev.nerds,
It seems you are using Aspose.Email for .NET to detect your .eml files, is not it? I guess you have posted your issue in the wrong forum, so I am moving your thread to rsepective forum where on one of our fellow colleagues from Aspose.Email team will assist you soon.
@australian.dev.nerds
DetectFileFormat can not support all file formats .
We will look into dectecting GZip file format later.

Hello, sure it cannot, I meant it is detecting a Gzip file incorrectly, as CSV, actually, cells DetectFileFormat will wrongly detect some other types as CSV, too…
@australian.dev.nerds
Can you list those file format types which you want to detect?
If the file is unknown for Aspose.Cells, we will think the file is a txt file, then sometimes we will wrongly detect some other types as CSV.
@australian.dev.nerds,
In the meantime, we have supported to detect Gzip file format (we logged a ticket with an id “CELLSNET-53359” earlier for it). The enhancements will be included in our upcoming release (Aspose.Cells v23.6) that we plan to release in the first half of June 2023. You will be notified when the next version is released.

Hello,
This seems to be an communication issue, I simply meant that Cells DetectFileFormat will incorrectly detect a gzip file as CSV.
Simple version: if we pass a gzip file to cells detect file format, it will find its type as CSV.
@australian.dev.nerds,
Alright, thanks for the details. As we have supported to detect Gzip file format, so hopefully it will suit your needs well.
The issues you have found earlier (filed as CELLSNET-53359) have been fixed in this update. This message was posted using Bugs notification tool by johnson.shi
