Change Email Headers in Old Email Threads- PST editing

Is there a quick and easy way to change the Email headers within old email threads? For more of an understanding of what I am trying to accomplish, I am using Visual Studio to go through one PST and editing each of the emails within that file and resaving a new PST with the updated email messages.

Hi Brett,

Thank you for posting your inquiry.

This information is contained in the body of the message and can be changed manually only. Moreover, at present you can’t edit and reflect the changes in-place to a PST message. Thus, there is now way to achieve this. Please let us know if we can be of any other help to you about this requirement.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a way to get the body text out and parse it with code to change it and set it back in the message? Even though I am taking emails out of PSTs, I am still working with .msg files. Is there no way to modify/replace email addresses in the body text chain?

Hi Brett,

A message’s body can be of any different type like plain body, html body and RTF and it seems difficult to find the relevant information in correct form and update it. Neverthless, you can use the MailMessage to achieve this somewhat as follow:

The code that you posted is what I have been using, I am saving it with the Aspose Save function after doing this. However, the code doesn’t seem to be making a difference. I posted my code below. Any thoughts as to how to get this to change all the email headers in email threads?

Hi Brett,

As I mentioned, this won’t be that easy as expected. If the message has Html Body, it will contain Html tags as well. As can be seen in the attached screenshot that you provided, the “From” is written in Bold and remaining is written in plain text. Thus, this makes the replace method fail on it based on the search string you provide. This can be seen in the sample code below with illustration comments. Please have a look at it and let us know your feedback.
