Checkbox confusion

Hi, I'm trying to use a checkbox in databound aspose web grid. it's very confusing because, if I use the column validation validationtype property set to checkbox, once I update the record, it writes T/F on the database. But aspose grid cannot read T/F to check and uncheck the box upon binding. I tried using byte (0/1) it can read it but since it returns T/F upon update, the program gives an error.

i would appreciate any help.
