Checksum Character is an Asterick!

Hello Folks,

The checksum character for this barcode is an asterick which is not a valid 3of9 character.

Checksum character not always correct

The checksum character printing on this barcode is the same as the stop character. (An "*") This means that the code if read literally is "*PnnnnnnP**". When this barcode is read it fails to read the checksum character because it thinks it is the stop character. The asterick character is not part of the subset of characters allowed in the standard 3of9 character set. Why is it printing a * as the checksum character?
