Control characters in merge text

Hi I have text in an xml file and I load that into a dataset. Using the new Linq I can merge the data into the datafield no problem. A question though is how do I force a new line at various places in the string. I have tried \r\n and that just displays in the text.

Hi I managed to get sorted. The issue was I am using XML and so have to use the XML escape characters and not the C# ones.
